The Repair Shop aired a festive surprise tonight - as a familiar face returned.

The BBC show was back this evening for a festive special, during which the wonderful team came together to restore some beautiful and meaningful items for the guests.

The One Show host Roman Kemp was on hand to introduce a special precious family heirloom after the BBC show made the call for people to submit their heirlooms to be looked at by the team of experts. A lady called Kat had brought in a special teddy bear, gifted to her by her grandfather, but it had a big hole in it and its stuffing was falling out.

Kat wanted to give it to her son Freddie, who had cycled 100 miles last year to raise money for the hospital that cared for his sick grandfather. Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell were put on the job, and the teddy bear was beautifully restored. She said: "It would mean the world to me to have him back and fixed because it was something my dad always wanted."

Elsewhere on the show, Dominic Chinea and Brenton West were given two giant fibreglass puffins, which were owned by a children's bookshop, to restore, while Will Kirk, Kirsten Ramsay, Steve Fletcher, and Mark Stuckey all worked together to restore a miniature Christmas Village that is lovingly displayed in a home for foster children.

Suzie Fletcher was tasked with restoring a donkey saddle handed down through the generations, while Mark Stuckey, Pete Woods, and Pierro Pozella all came together to restore an incredible 100-year-old magic lantern for a family.

At the end of the episode, the whole cast - and the three sisters - were joined by the show's narrator, Bill Paterson, to read a very special version of Twas The Night Before Christmas, as they all settled down to see the lantern in action.

Imagine being part of that workplace’s Secret Santa! A show made with such love, skill, and warmth," as a second added: "#therepairshop Bill Paterson is a national treasure."

A third penned: "Well, that was lovely. Well done to all involved with @TheRepairShop Christmas special. The teddy bear and Christmas village were highlights for me. Bill reading ‘twas the night before Christmas, and then the secret Santas are always special! #therepairshop," whilst another wrote: "Watching #Therepairshop for Christmas brilliant and emotional programme."
