Outlander: Season seven part two teased in trailer

*Warning - This article contains spoilers for the Outlander TV and book series.*

The hit show Outlander has sparked fervent discussions among its fanbase regarding the central character Jamie Fraser, portrayed by Sam Heughan, particularly focusing on his most contentious slip-ups throughout the series.

Jamie, revered as a favourite on the Starz series and married to lead Claire Fraser, played by Caitriona Balfe, has ignited critiques from fans on his "awful" and "mortifying" actions in various episodes.

Debates are heating up on social media as enthusiasts dissect his low points while eagerly anticipating the next instalment of Outlander, with season 7, part two due to arrive in only a matter of weeks.

With the historical romance drama soon concluding its final chapter, based on the acclaimed works of author Diana Gabaldon, the cast and crew have recently completed shooting for the eighth season, prompting a bittersweet response from viewers.

Claire and Jamie in Outlander

On Reddit, a user known as @pufferfish_hoop sparked a conversation with a thread titled 'What's the worst thing Jamie does?'

They wrote: “I am currently reading Drums, and I feel like Jamie is making his biggest mistakes so far.

“I adore Jamie and I haven’t liked Roger (Richard Rankin) very much but I am really starting to come around to his side now that Jamie is treating him so awfully.

“Can’t Jamie just stop hitting Roger for even a second? I am at the part where they tell Roger that Bree was raped. Get a grip on yourself Jamie!”

Throwing out a question to their fellow fans, they asked: “What do you think are Jamie’s biggest blunders?” (sic)

Taking to the comments, one fan suggested: “Beating Roger to near death and selling him to the Indians. I was mortified when I watched that episode…”

Roger in Outlander

A second fan, empathizing with Roger, weighed in: "The worst thing that Jamie does is give Roger to the Mohawk. So okay, beating him was a heat of the moment thing, but Jamie was a prisoner and a forced laborer and it's horrifying that he would do that to another person, especially on fairly flimsy evidence." (sic)

Some Outlander enthusiasts turned their critique towards Jamie's dealings with Claire, as one expressed: "It wasn't really his fault, but because of his actions, Claire had to go through maybe the hardest time of her life alone. He wasn't there to help her through the horrible grief after Faith. I don't think I would ever forgive that." (sic)

"I personally hated it when he spanked Claire," another viewer declared, with one more concurring: "Maybe beating Claire. (Understand it all, but now when I have to choose one event, maybe it would be that one.)" (sic)

Laoghaire in Outlander

Meanwhile, a different fan conveyed their discomfort, writing: "Berating Brianna (Sophie Skelton) after she was raped as being sullied and ruined really hit me different. I get it - different time, etc, etc - but reading/watching that as a modern woman was pretty difficult for me." (sic)

And others didn't hold back on addressing Jamie's strategic missteps, with a fan musing: "Helping Bonnet get away and escape the hangman. Baaaaaad move buddy." (sic)

Another frustrated fan simply wrote: "Turning LJ over to the enemy!" (sic)

One disgruntled fan expressed irritation: "Marrying Laoghrie and not pulling out when he slept with Geneva!" While another chimed in with a similarly negative sentiment, adding: "Marrying Laoghaire. Duh..." (sic)

Following the closure of Lionsgate+ in the UK, new episodes of Outlander will be available on Starz and to stream on Prime Video channel MGM+ from Sunday, November 22. You must be an Amazon Prime member before you can sign up for MGM+.
