Netflix has got into the Halloween groove this week with a host of scary features, but there's still plenty for subscribers who aren't feeling the fright.

As the nights grow darker and colder, streamers and movie enthusiasts will be on the hunt for the perfect films to cosy up with in the coming weeks.

Look no further than the streaming behemoth, which has just added a delightfully offbeat romantic-comedy that's perfect for those recovering from Halloween revelry.

Featuring Irish comedian and actress Aisling Bea, this is a rom-com with a difference and received positive reviews when it debuted at the Edinburgh International Film Festival earlier this year.

It's now ready for your streaming enjoyment at no additional cost for Netflix members.

And Mrs stars Bea as Gemma, a recent almost-widow whose fiance dies just before their planned wedding.

According to a synopsis, "when [the] reluctant bride-to-be's fiance drops dead, she insists on marrying him anyway - vowing to overcome public opinion, the law of the land, and her loved one's objections."

Yes, you read that right - this film kicks off with one half of the main couple already deceased, so brace yourself for more surprises along the way.

The film features a stellar cast with American icons Billie Lourd and Colin Hanks, alongside a host of British talent such as Susan Wokoma, Omari Douglas, and Nish Kumar, not to mention the esteemed Dame Harriet Walter and Doctor Who star Arthur Darvill.

Cath Clarke from The Guardian praised And Mrs as a "barmy Brit romcom" boasting a "knockout" ensemble.

She went on to laud Bea's performance as "an absolute hoot. When Hollywood stars play ordinary civilians, there's often a slumming-it quality to their performances, but Bea is funny and real, sarky and very likable as Gemma."

Common Sense Media commented: "The premise of And Mrs is a touch bizarre - a woman determined to marry her dead fiance - but somehow the movie sidesteps anything too uncomfortable or schmaltzy, instead offering plenty of humor and some well-earned emotional moments."

Awards Buzz described the film as "an enjoyable experience that packs a surprising emotional punch, depicting a make-the-best-of-it situation that audiences will surely hope never to live for themselves but will likely very much enjoy watching."

Digital Spy remarked: "It's an affecting British rom-com unlike any you've seen before, and one that gives you as many laughs as it will tears."

A Letterboxd user who attended the EIFF premiere highlighted its strengths, noting "lots of heart, humanity and hope" and calling it "a celebration of love, friendship and family in equal parts".

"I know it's only just come out but I feel a rom-com this original is going to be remembered and talked about for years to come," they concluded.

Bea, famed for her numerous TV roles such as in This Way Up and Alice and Jack, is set to charm audiences once again with her latest distinctive comedic performance.

And Mrs is available to stream on Netflix.
