ITV Loose Women's Coleen Nolan halts show with concern for co-star Ruth Langsford

Ruth Langsford speaking about her mum's recovery

ITV's Loose Women took a heartfelt turn when Coleen Nolan interrupted the programme to inquire after Ruth Langsford's mother's health.

During the episode's opening on Monday (January 6), amid the usual banter with fellow panellists Kelly Brook and Brenda Edwards, Coleen redirected the conversation by asking Ruth.

She asked: "Just before we carry on with all of that. I know your mum had a fall before Christmas, how is she doing?"

Ruth openly shared the news about her 94-year-old mother Joan, who suffered a scary fall that led to a fractured pelvis, yet thankfully, she is "doing alright."

The 64-year-old hailed her mother as an indomitable spirit, declaring: "She is a warrior my mum, she really is. She is like titanium and it's just amazing but I've been worried about her."

Ruth elaborated on her mother's accident by recounting: "She had a fall in the middle of December and fractured her pelvis which is really painful.

"I said at the time 'aw thank goodness she hasn't broken anything' and the doctor said a fracture is worse because it takes a lot longer to heal."

With admiration, the presenter commended her mother's remarkable strength, remarking: "You know how my mum is, she had a hip replacement last year and literally had paracetamol and she was up in three days but she has been in so much pain and it has been horrible."

Ruth opened up about harrowing personal struggles this week, recounting her mother's hospitalisation. She expressed relief and gratitude, saying: "She's been in hospital and we only got her out on Friday but she is out of hospital and we've got her home now so happy again.

"It's been a tough one and I know so many people, when you have an elderly parent who needs care, it's different isn't it."

Ruth also highlighted the delicate balance of care required for her mother, stating: "I love my mum so I don't resent it and it could have been a lot worse but she has just got to do a mixture of resting and also movement, it's a combination of the two but she is amazing and she is doing well so thank you."

Her mother, Joan, has faced numerous health challenges, including a serious fall last year which echoed a similar incident over the previous Christmas where Joan suffered a broken hip in 2023.

Joan has had several health issues and currently relies on home care due to her ongoing battle with dementia.
