Outlander's Claire and Jamie stars address potential return for movie based on final book
Outlander's lead stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have opened up about the possibility of reprising their roles for the adaptation of the 10th and yet-to-be-published book in the celebrated series, despite the Starz network planning to wrap up the television saga with its eighth season.
While Diana Gabaldon's collection of bestselling novels currently counts nine published volumes with a final instalment still pending, the on-screen journey of Claire and Jamie Fraser has thrilled viewers.
Book nine, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, released back in 2021, and there's an air of mystery hovering over the final book's release date.
As Outlander relaunches with the second part of its seventh season this week (November 22), fans are eager to see more of the Frasers' escapades translated from page to screen.
During a recent appearance on The One Show, the duo entertained a significant proposition regarding the future of the Outlander franchise.

Balfe left the door open by commenting, "Yeah, I mean never say never, right? I think if that was wanted we would always want to...", reports the Daily Record.
Heughan echoed the sentiment, stating: "If that's what the fans want, how can we deny them? But yeah, we'll see."
To which presenter Jones responded optimistically: "There you are! It's not over until it's over."
The 10th book in the series is still in the works (Image: STARZ)So far, there's been no official confirmation on the future adaptation of the 10th book in the series, and producers Maril Davis and Matthew B Roberts have implied that season eight of the beloved time-travelling saga will conclude Claire and Jamie Fraser's epic tale.
Despite this, fans remain hopeful that there might be another chapter to the story waiting further down the road.
In a revealing segment on The One Show, the leading duo also shared details about their final moments filming together, assuring viewers that it's set to be a poignant farewell.
Heughan disclosed particular details about their parting scene, stating: "A seven and a half minute scene," and adding, "Lots of dialogue. And the dialogue, as in Outlander, normally these scenes are, it was very dramatic."
He went on to describe the emotional resonance of the scene, saying, "A lot of goodbyes in the scene but then it had this double meaning because we were also saying goodbye ourselves."
