Katya Jones and her Strictly Come Dancing partner Wynne Evans have been the talk of the dancefloor after getting caught up in a controversy on the BBC hit show.

The drama unfolded when an "inside joke" led to claims Wynne had made Katya feel "uncomfortable" by placing his hand on her waist, sparking a wave of speculation. However, Katya was quick to set the record straight, insisting it was all in good humour.

Delighted to be advancing to Halloween week on Strictly, Katya couldn't contain her excitement, hugging Wynne in celebration of surviving the cut. The duo later opened up to Claudia Winkleman about the ladies who had been sprucing up their training location in Wales.

The dancing sensation also shared that Wynne was giving her lessons in Welsh, gratefully saying "diolch" to their supporters.

The allegations had previously left Wynne expressing his devastation. He explained: "I'm absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day.

"It's not nice to live in that time, but basically Katya and I are really, really close and we're really good friends, and on Saturday night we made a stupid joke."

He added: "It was a stupid joke that went wrong, OK? We thought it was funny. It wasn't funny. It has been totally misinterpreted. Everything's on Katya's socials. She's talked about it. She's explained that it was a joke.

"She wasn't offended in the least. She doesn't feel uncomfortable. We've got a brilliant friendship, an absolutely tight friendship, and I'm sorry if anybody was offended by it, but it was a joke. And that's all there is. There is no real story, really."

During their It Takes Two interview, Katya also took a moment to defend Wynne.

She stated: "I will get onto dancing I promise but can I please first get something out of the way that I feel like overshadowed our performance for absolutely no reason and quite frankly, actually, I can't bear sitting here watching this man [Wynne] being portrayed as someone he's not.

"In fact, it couldn't be further away from the truth so I have to make this absolutely clear that this whole incident with the hand and the high five on Saturday night it was an inside joke between Wynne and I. Was it a silly joke? Yes! Was it a bad joke? Yes!"

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday October 26th at 6.25pm
