Spit park upgrade

One of the significant projects as part of implementation of The Spit Master Plan will be ready in time for summer. Re-opening in October, Muriel Henchman Park, a popular launching point for motorised and non-motorised craft accessing Marine Stadium, the Broadwater, Gold Coast Seaway and open ocean, has undergone a $19 million revamp as part of The Spit Masterplan implementation.

Delivered by the Gold Coast Waterways Authority with funding by the Queensland Government’s Spit Works Program and the City of Gold Coast, Muriel Henchman Park now offers a total of six boat ramp lanes, an upgraded pontoon, a new floating walkway for the northern boat ramp, 160 trailer parks, 144 car parks, six car parks for people with disabilities, pathways, landscaping, new public toilets and a shade shelter.
