Govt issues black travel alert for Lebanon

Hong Kong on Monday raised the outbound travel alert for Lebanon to black, the highest in a three-tier system, calling on SAR residents to avoid all travel to the country. The government cited the "highly unpredictable security situation" there and said the black travel alert signifies "severe threat". "Those already there should attend to personal safety and leave or relocate to relatively safe regions immediately," a government statement added. Hong Kong residents in Lebanon are urged to pay attention to announcements made by local authorities and the Chinese Embassy there, and those who need assistance could contact the Immigration Department via a 24-hour hotline, WhatsApp, WeChat, or the official mobile application. The Security Bureau will continue to monitor the situation there.
