Ben Miller makes emotional confession on ITV cooking show on why he won't return to comedy

Ben Miller shared an emotional confession as he revealed the real reason why he wouldn’t want to return to comedy. The actor, 58, started his career in comedy and has since gone on to star in multiple TV shows, as well as bagging huge roles in movies.

He has been making us laugh from the screen for more than 20 years but Ben has admitted that he is ‘scared’ to dabble in comedy again.

The Death in Paradise star appeared on a recent episode of ITV’s James Martin Saturday Morning and James couldn’t help but ask the actor if he would ever consider a career as a jokester again.

function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.setAttribute('src','https://live.primis.tech/live/liveView.php?s=118222&playerApiId=v118222');document.getElementById('ovp-primis').appendChild(el)} window.top.addEventListener('primisPlayerInit',e=>{try{if(e.detail&&e.detail.playerApiId==="v118222"){if(window.document.getElementsByClassName('jwplayer')[0]){e.detail.float('disable')}}}catch(e){}});window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',()=>{setTimeout(()=>{if(typeof flagTcfLoaded!=='undefined'&&flagTcfLoaded===!0){loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP flagTcfLoaded',new Date())}else{document.addEventListener("tcfLoaded",()=>{loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP tcfLoaded',new Date())})}},1500)})

Ben opened up and revealed: “I’m scared of doing it again and I feel like... Well I wouldn’t say I’m scared that I wouldn’t give it a go but I feel like it’s probably something I should do.”

James asked: “Why is that because you had huge success with comedy.” Ben admitted: “It’s hard and I feel like comedy has changed and am I a bit out of touch to do comedy again. In a comedy people have got to be laughing and it’s that thought that what if it’s not funny.”

The pair burst out laughing as Ben continued: “Comedy has its moments and I feel like it does belong to a certain time and place because it’s about common references and change and also the style of comedy changes a lot.

“We used to film our sketch show in front of a live audience and record their response and that definitely doesn’t happen anymore, studios don’t even exist.”

James jumped in: “Now comedy is on the big stage and huge arenas.” Ben added: “Yes exactly and that probably isn’t my medium but I’ve got other things in the pipeline.”
