The vital Championship clash between Birmingham City and Norwich at St Andrew's was delayed in the first half because of a medical emergency. Midway through the first half, the match was stopped for around five minutes before officials and players were able to resume matters.

On their official social media pages, Norwich clarified the situation, stating: "The game has stopped while a medical emergency in the stands is attended to by doctors." They added "Hopefully those involved are okay."

Birmingham personnel also reacted by confirming the incident had taken place in the lower Kop stand. And it wasn't the only off-field incident to hold up a game on the division's final day.

At Millmoor, already-relegated Rotherham also had their match with Cardiff City delayed. The match was halted on the 15-minute mark for a period of around three minutes, also for a medical emergency in the stands.

It was 0-0 when the incident took place in Birmingham, a scoreline which remained the same at half-time. And the delay would have heightened the tension for the Blues, who begun the day in the bottom three.

Gary Rowett's side kicked off a point behind Plymouth Argyle and three off Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn. And a draw is no use to the Bluenoses, barring Argyle being hammered by five goals against Hull City.

And as the clock ticked towards the hour mark, it remained goalless as the home fans became increasingly restless. The hosts have been in the Championship ever since their Premier League relegation in the 2010/11 campaign.

Norwich however, are under little pressure having already guaranteed a place in the play-offs. There only motivation is cementing fifth place, as defeat or a draw will drop them to sixth if West Brom beat Preston.

Elsewhere, it was Ipswich on the brink of promotion to the top-flight. They led Huddersfield 2-0 just after the break, a result will see them finish second regardless of results elsewhere.
