Furious The Chase fans blast 'slow' team for lost prize as they fume 'another wasted hour'

The Chase: Contestants lose out on £75K jackpot

The Chase started off with a victory for contestants Marcus and Analiese this afternoon after they outwitted expert Chaser Paul Sinha sufficiently to make it through to the last round. Viewers were on tenterhooks after Analiese went on to "bank big money" and increase the potential prize to £75,000.

However, the winning streak didn't last long, as the team ended up losing everything - and Twitter fans exploded in frustration at the last minute loss. Describing their performance as "truly tragic", fans blasted the failings that led to them leaving empty-handed with just 49 seconds left on the clock.

"Zero sense of urgency except for maybe Analiese #TheChase," one fan commented. Another exclaimed in horror: "Wasted effort. They were just too slow."

"Absolutely no chance of winning with 13 [steps]," another sympathised. A fourth agreed: "You can bluff through multiple choice but you can't bluff through the final chase."

"Why are they so slowwwwwww? #TheChase," a fifth agonised mid-action as the cash windfall slipped further and further away from the team. Some fans even went as far as blasting the show for causing them to waste an hour of their time.

Meanwhile, earlier in the show, fans also blasted male team members Dan and Marcus for not reacting positively to Analiese's big win earlier in the show, which almost led to a victory.

"That guy Dan needs to smile and be grateful, [instead of] looking down his nose at Analiese who just brought back £65k, [when] all he contributed is 4k," one commented.

"Distinct lack of applause from the 2 fellas when she brought them back £65,000!!" another agreed.

"Those two blokes looking like they don't give a f***. IF they win she should take that 65k for herself," chimed in a third.

As always, the show brought in colourful debate and strong opinions this afternoon.

Meanwhile, another bugbear for viewers recently has been a trend for repeats of the ITV show - and others scheduled around it.

One despaired: "If you wanted a sign that ITV are now starting to struggle to fill the schedule, Sunday 28th April is a repeat of #TheChase Celebrity Special, followed by a repeat of #DealOrNoDeal (one of the daytime episodes, not a celebrity special), followed by a repeat of #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire."

It has left fans sorely disappointed, although yesterday, they were entertained by one ambitious contestant who reported her plans to visit every single castle and stately home in Britain.

She'd already ticked a mammoth 50 destinations off her list and hoped to use any prize money to continue her journeys around the country.

The contestant has been equally prolific in France, having visited 103 of its "prettiest historic villages" out of a possible 159.

However, Reunion in the Indian Ocean is one French-owned territory she says she won't be travelling towards, as she "can't get the motor home there".
