Inside Coronation Street Tracy Barlow's exit and hopes for her return

ITV Coronation Street's Tracy Barlow, played by Kate Ford, left the soap in a surprising turn of events. The beloved character decided to leave Weatherfield earlier this year to join her lover Tommy Orpington in Spain, leaving Steve McDonald heartbroken as he grappled with life without Tracy.

Tracy explained that she needed to be with Tommy after discovering that Steve had lied about Tommy reaching out to her, contrary to her belief that Tommy wanted nothing more to do with her.

Her exit came as Tracy chose to follow her heart, leaving Steve behind and moving to Spain with Tommy Orpington. Initially, she tried to make things work with Steve, but later confessed that she couldn't forgive him for hiding Tommy's letter from her.

This led her to reconnect with Tommy and they both moved to Spain, reports the Mirror.

She bid farewell to her family and friends - except Steve - and embarked on a new life in Spain. But will Tracy and Tommy's relationship continue to flourish, or will Steve find love again with someone else?

But while Tracy is gone for now, fans are expecting her to return, though at present, there is no confirmation whether Kate Ford will return to her role as Tracy Barlow. Fans are hopeful for her comeback, but ITV has yet to confirm if we've seen the last of Tracy on our screens.

Her new relationship and her future on the cobbles are still unknown.

Following Tracy's exit, Steve is set to find love elsewhere, turning to online dating. This week sees him embarking on a series of dates, some more successful than others, particularly when one date brings along several friends.

"I think it would be great if we see Steve having to go down the route of speed dating, online dating," he suggested, humorously adding, "Steve could have a full on mid life crisis, maybe we could see him losing weight, changing his appearance, going to the gym. It could be a lot of fun and also a great excuse for me to make some changes in real life! ".

Simon doesn't seem to mind whether Steve finds love with a familiar face or a newcomer. He concluded: "I think anyone will do. At this point in Steve's life he'd be lucky to have anybody! ... He gets why Tracy is attracted to Tommy, but he's just so upset that his idol has done this to him. I think there's so much going on at once that he's not properly put it together yet."
