Sara Cox has spoken out about BBC Radio 2's presenter shake up after veteran host Zoe Ball announced her departure from her breakfast show. Appearing on ITV's Good Morning Britain, Sara was quizzed by Susanna Reid and Ed Ball about her thoughts on the changes.
Susanna aked the BBC star: "Zoe Ball has decided to switch off the alarm clock and put it on snooze for good?" Sara replied: "Yes, yes. Good for her."
The GMB host continued: "You've stood in on that show, haven't you? A huge number of times." Sara responded, saying: "I used to stand in for Chris Evans quite a bit before Zoe and then I started my four o'clock show on the same day that Zoe started her breakfast show.
"So it'll be six years. So when she goes it'll be near enough six years of those, well as you know, it's early to be getting up isn't it? So she's going to have a well deserved lie in and Scott Mills will be taking over."
Adding her thoughts on the changes, Sara added: "Which is great. Because it's always been a huge ambition of his."

She continued: "It's the best job in the world, we are very very lucky. Certainly very lucky."
Zoe shared an emotional statement earlier this month, on November 19, as she announced on air that she has decided to step down but has reassured fans that she will remain on the station.
The 53-year-old broadcaster told BBC listeners: "After six incredible years on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, it's time for me to step away from the very early mornings and focus on family. It's been a privilege.
"I think the world of you listeners and I'm grateful to my bosses here for their support, especially this year.

"Huge thanks go to my awesome team on the show, Tina, Mike, and Richie, and of course our listeners, with whome I've shared some of life's highs and lows, the good, the bad and the daft times."
She also shared the date for her final show, with her announcing that she would be leaving at the end of Christmas.
She went on: "My last show will be on Friday, December 20, just in time for Christmas with plenty of fun and shenanigans. While I'm stepping away from the Breakfast Show, I'm not disappearing entirely - I'll still be a part of the Radio 2 family, with more news in the New Year.
"I'm excited to embrace my next chapter, including being a mum in the mornings, and I can't wait to tune in on the school run!"
