A fresh documentary launched on Netflix delves into the enigmatic case of JonBenet Ramsey, who was found dead in her family home on December 26, 1996.

The six year old girl was discovered in the basement, having been sexually assaulted and murdered within the property.

Releasing on the streaming platform, the three-part series is set to refocus attention on the house and the horrific events that unfolded within its confines.

Situated in Boulder, Colorado, the murder was notably the only one reported in the city during 1996.It quickly became a high-profile media case and has remained so for many years.

But what became of the property where the body was found? Who resides there now, and what challenges have they encountered?

Following the death of their youngest child, the Ramseys vacated the house. They had purchased it for $500,000 (£400,000) in 1991 , reports the Mirror.

It was initially sold to an investor for $650,000 (£518,000). The family donated their profits to the JonBenet Ramsey Children's Foundation.

The five-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom Tudor includes a top-floor penthouse with two bathrooms and a kitchen with a separate catering kitchen.

Carol Schuller Milner, alongside her husband Timothy, became the owners of the notorious house in 2004, nearly eight years after the tragic demise of JonBenet. Speaking on her intentions behind the purchase, Carol expressed a desire to transform the dwelling's reputation, stating: "This has become a dark monument, this thing that was just sitting there, just a constant reminder of something horrible that happened, and I'm just a believer in undoing stuff like that. It is a wonderful place to live. It is home."

The acquisition of the house by the Milners coincided with their need for a more spacious venue for their ministry activities in Boulder. Of note, Carol takes her lineage from the late television evangelist Robert Schuller, who led a popular TV series across the states for four decades.

As per a report by the New York Post, attempts to offload the property have been unsuccessful six times by the current owners, with the most recent push to sell occurring earlier this year, regardless of successive price reductions. Realtor.com notes that although the residence, erected in 1927, went on the market in November 2022 with a hefty price tag of $7.25 million (roughly £5.8 million), subsequent markdowns saw it dip to $6.249 million (close to £4.9 million).

Despite these adjustments, a relisting failed to draw prospective buyers. The increased list prices seen today might be attributed to inflationary pressures. Records indicate that the home has been on the market intermittently since 2008, with asking prices between $2.3 million and $1.95 million (£1.8 million to £1.5 million) during the years 2009, 2011, and 2014.

Specialists have proposed that the property's connection to the JonBenet Ramsey case could be the reason behind its inability to sell.
