A much-loved BBC thriller, that was labelled a "masterpiece" by fans will soon be back on screens. Based on the 2019 novel of the same name by Holly Jackson, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder has been confirmed for a second series.

The "riveting" six-episode drama was released on BBC before later being rolled out on Netflix. It follows Wednesday’s Emma Myers as Pip Fitz-Amobi.

She plays the role of a teenager who is not convinced by the murder of local schoolgirl Andie Bell, played by India Lillie Davies, and decides to take matters into her own hands.

Her own investigation comes after a court ruled the murdered girls’ boyfriend Sal Singh (Rahul Pattni) murdered her before killing himself however Pippa believes he was innocent and wants to prove that before the real killer strikes again.

The show is soon to return with the determined sleuth facing a brand new mystery to solve. It will be based on Good Girl, Bad Blood, the second book in the bestselling young adult mystery book series and adapted and written by Holly Jackson and Poppy Cogan.

The synopsis for the next season has teased that: "After she solved the Andie Bell case, Pip’s world has been transformed by her actions, and not always for the better. Pip is determined to fix the fallout — and stay away from any more investigations.

"But as Max Hastings’ trial approaches, key witness Jamie Reynolds suddenly disappears, and Pip finds herself in a race against time to find him.

This new mystery will take Pip to unexpected places as she struggles with the idea of justice, straying even further from the 'good girl' she once was."

Speaking about the second series being confirmed, writer Holly said: "I am beyond thrilled that we can continue Pip’s story and, this time, I’m writing on the show!"

Meanwhile Poppy added: "I’m delighted to be back in Little Kilton with Pip and friends for season 2 and to have the opportunity to bring another of Holly’s gripping stories to the screen."

Filming for season 2 is expected to begin next year, with the lead star returning. Zain Iqbal will also be joining the cast as the character of Ravi Singh.
