BBC Breakfast: Charlie Stayt announces sad passing of Jadey Godley
Charlie Stayt was forced to interrupt BBC Breakfast after the sad news landed that Janey Godley had passed away.
The 63-year-old comedian had been battling overian cancer, updating her social media viewers just weeks ago to tell them the disease was now terminal and she "didn't know if she'd see Christmas this year".
Sadly, it was announced that the Scottish star had passed away with her family and loved ones at her side, as Charlie paused the programme to make the important breaking news announcement.
Immediately after Charlie had broken the news a tribute to Janey played out on BBC screens, celebrating her career, time in the spotlight and her courageous fight against cancer.
Back in September, Janey was forced to cancel her 'Why Is She Still Here?' tour after annoucing she was now receiving palliative care after being diagnosed with cancer.

The comedian, became particularly famous after her dubbed video of Nicola Sturgeon's Covid briefings went viral on the internet, with the online star later confirming in November 2021 that she had been diagnosed with cancer.
On Saturday, (November 2) her manager Chris David updated that she had died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. He announced: "It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our client Doctor Janey Godley on 2 November."
He continued: "Janey died peacefully in the wonderful Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow surrounded by her loved ones. She will be hugely missed by her family, friends and her many fans.
"She will be remembered for her legendary voiceovers of Nicola Sturgeon during the pandemic, her hilarious and outspoken comedy, but most of all for just being 'Janey'."
Back in 2022, the stand-up comic revealed that she'd been given the all-clear after she underwent a hysterectomy and a postoperative scan had shown "no evidence of disease".
After her good news, plans were put in place for her to go back on tour but just before Christmas 2022, the Scottish star revealed her cancer had returned and that the tour "may be her last".
However, soon after in an interview with STV News she devastatingly confirmed her cancer was now "treatable but not curable" with doctors later advising that she should give up working "for the foreseeable future".
The tour was cancelled and days later Janey returned to social media with an emotional video, telling fans she was receiving end-of-life care, as she filmed from her hospice bed.
