Expert custom Porsche interior maker Justin Placek and sneaker designer Kid River have teamed up to release a pair of Porsche-inspired New Balance 2002r sneakers.
The release follows Placek's notable collaboration with Daniel Arsham and limited edition 911 Dakar drop. The pair also builds on River's existing portfolio of automotive-inspired custom sneakers, which range from Porsche to Rolls-Royce and often feature classic patterns like houndstooth, plaid and stripes.
This latest bespoke pair from River was designed to match the interior of one of Placek's clients and is accompanied by a matching bag from the designer's HANTRITT brand. Placek notes that the pair is "already in use at the accelerator pedal in Italy." The shoe features a base layer of deconstructed off-white leather, dark green leather accents and a touch of black. All of this is tied together with the main element of the shoe, its Porsche Pepita Houndstooth in black and green with a white base.
Based on the post by Placek and River, we assume that this will just be the first of many pairs. Those looking to have their own pair made can reach out to the designers for more information.
