Union LA and DISCOVERED Craft Special Capsule for Shibuya Pop-Up

Los Angeles-based retailer Union has made the long journey to Tokyo for a special collaboration with Japanese label DISCOVERED as a part of the collaborators' joint pop-up. Taking place in Shibuya Parco from December 27 to January 5, the six-piece line will be offered at the physical activation, as well as the DISCOVERED official online store.

The collaborative collection borrows reconstruction methods often deployed by DISCOVERED founders Tatsuya Kimura and Sanae Yoshida. As early as 2001 the two designers began crafting custom garments for local musicians made from disassembled clothing with unique stitching and appliques. DISCOVERED fittingly uses the term "newsed" to describe its hybrid approach to garment creation.

Standing out in the collection is a cream-hued fisherman cardigan adorned with thick yarned embroideries. The chunky knit features multi-colored floral designs and loose hanging threads to highlight the grungy appeal. Elsewhere the black Mohair MA-1 bomber jacket makes unconventional use of a cozy textile and is accented with unfinished white-stitched logos.

For optimal layering, the collection offers two tastefully distressed hoodies in heather gray and black. Matching the rest of the line-up the hoodies also boast free-hanging yarns for added character. Finally, the collection is rounded out with two cobranded T-shirts in black and cream, each adorned with duo-toned graphics and embroidery.

See the campaign above starring Bay Area rapper Larry June and visit the pop-up at Shibuya PARCO 3F 15-1 Udagawacho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.
