Strictly's Pete Wicks unlikely exit 'confirmed' after BBC star axed

Strictly's Pete Wicks admits being 'weakest dancer'

Strictly Come Dancing returned for Musicals Week as one celebrity will soon be crowned the winner and lift the Glitterball Trophy.

Pete Wicks has sailed through to the show's semi-finals alongside his professional dance partner Jowita Pryzstal.

However, his return to the dancefloor for another week has caused some backlash from viewers after two show favourites were in the bottom two on Sunday night.

Montell Douglas was dealt a huge blow in the quarter-final. The tearful Olympian exited the competition after being in the bottom two alongside Tasha Ghouri, whom the judges chose to save.

Strictly legend Brendan Cole has revealed why the TOWIE star will not leave the competition anytime soon - admitting the podcast host has one ingredient that sets him apart from his co-stars.

Speaking exclusively to Sky Vegas, he told Express Online: "It's the emotional connection that he's putting into the dances. You train for years to understand it [the numbers] – and if you're doing it without any knowledge – and it's just inherently in you, that's Strictly gold.

“I did 15 series and had maybe three partners that probably had the emotional maturity of Pete – that's quite something.”

It wasn't Pete and his professional dance partner Jowita's greatest night in the ballroom as they finished at the bottom of the leaderboard.

They scored 26 out of a possible 40 for their waltz to Somewhere from West Side Story, with Pete heard saying, "I’m so sorry" to Jowita after finishing the routine, in which they portrayed the musical's leading characters, Tony and Maria.

Meanwhile, viewers bid an emotional farewell to Montell who became the tenth celebrity to leave the BBC One dance contest during the latest results show on Sunday night (December 1) alongside her professional dance partner Johannes Radebe.

The dancing duo performed a Rumba to I'm Here from The Color Purple.

Addressing her performance, Brendan said: "I liked the simplicity of Jojo and Montell's dance.

"I wish she’d had the fluency, because all she needed was to find this expansion that you have within your body whilst you’re standing still through beats four and one. She could have found it, but sometimes, you just need a bit more time. That's a shame for her, because it could have been a beautiful number."

The Olympian was in tears as she expressed her gratitude following her exit, saying: "He has been amazing. Strictly has touched me in ways I never knew possible.

"I'm an Olympian and a Gladiator, but I have honestly struggled with confidence my whole life and being on the show, with the beautiful crew, the judges, the cast has just been such an honour. I have to say thank you to you [Johannes] because I really have found a friend and a brother in this man. I mean it from the bottom of my heart, I hope he's in my life forever, because we have something very special."
