Championship match delayed as power cut leaves thousands of fans in darkness
Portsmouth's clash with Millwall in the Championship faced an unexpected delay on Wednesday evening due to a power outage that plunged Fratton Park into darkness. Sky Sports reported that the club was "looking into an issue" after the scheduled 7:45pm kick-off time had passed, leaving fans in suspense.
While other Championship games commenced as planned, Portsmouth supporters were left waiting for updates; their team began the night in the relegation zone after securing only two victories in 15 league games. Meanwhile, Millwall came into the game riding high, unbeaten in eight and eyeing a play-off position thanks to a revival under head coach Neil Harris.
At just before 7:50pm, Portsmouth issued a statement: "There is currently an issue with the power at Fratton Park and it is being looked into. We will update supporters in due course."
No further information has been provided about when or if the power issue will be resolved tonight.
