ITV I'm A Celebrity Danny Jones' sister sends sweet message after he breaks down in tears

Lorraine: Danny's sister proud of him for opening up about anxiety

I'm A Celebrity contestant Danny Jones' sister had a sweet message for her brother after Wednesday's emotional episode.

On Thursday's Lorraine, host Lorraine Kelly spoke to the McFly star's, 38, sister Vix Wright-Jones, after her famous brother broke down in tears while bravely opening up on battling anxiety since he was a teenager.

During Wednesday's episode of I'm A Celebrity, Danny was comforted by his campmates as he shared how he once had a panic attack on live TV, opening up on his mental health struggles as he broke down in tears.

Speaking on Thursday's Lorraine, Danny's sister Vix said: "It was really nice to see that side to him to see a more vulnerable side to him, you always see this party kind of character. He is that, he totally is that, he's the life and soul but yeah I was really proud of him for that."

On Wednesday's episode, Danny explained the meaning behind his wrist tattoo, which reads 'don’t worry, be happy'. Asked by Loose Women's Jane Moore about the inking, Danny explained his constant worries and how he was 'working on' his issues.

Danny admitted: "It’s because I’m always constantly worrying, but that’s what I’m working on."

Asked about therapy, Danny went on: "Yeah, I’ve been in therapy since I was 19 for anxiety." The star then recalled an on-air panic attack he once had that left him "freaking out" during a televised interview.

He said: "I was freaking out and I couldn’t answer the question that got asked to me. Then it started happening in my work, I felt like a camera had gone above me, I had this white out like I was going to puke, heart rate goes crazy." This prompted Jane to ask whether he'd suffered with it from childhood to which Danny broke down in tears as he admitted: "I think I escaped a lot."

As he got emotional, fellow campmate Tulisa Contostavlos said in the Bush Telegraph: "We're seeing a lot of emotion coming out of Danny which is beautiful." Back in camp Danny then thanked his campmates, before apologising for crying.

To which Tulisa insisted: "Rule number one, no apologising for crying in camp" as Danny explained: "It's only when you get into it... I wanna be able to talk about it, every time I talk about it it's so much easier.

"But everything is heightened in here. I feel like a burden sometimes, like you don't wanna hear about my story, I felt it was so important to speak to someone." Comforting her fellow campmate, Tulisa said: "It’s really good to let it out and it’s really brave to be vulnerable, people respect it."

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! airs every night at 9PM on ITV1 and ITV X.
