BAPE Is Bringing Back the Original Shark Hoodie
This year, A Bathing Ape (BAPE) is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its signature Shark Full-Zip Hoodie, a landmark streetwear silhouette that became synonymous with the Nigo-founded label for its avant-garde face-covering feature and sharp-toothed face. To ring in the milestone, the Japanese label is re-releasing the first and second editions of the monumental design in a slew of archival colorways and with all the original design details.
In the collection, the first-edition Word Gone Mad (WGM) design includes the old FrankenApe branding alongside the "Ape Shall Never Kill Ape" tagline. Made from thick US cotton, the silhouette employs the flagship model's woodland camo print across five different colorways. Meanwhile, the second-edition hoodie, which also comes in five hues, hosts the Point Of No Return (PONR) acronym from 2005 across the back of the hood, as well as a specially designed thermal lining.
"This hoodie has always represented the freedom to stand out, brought to life through creativity and Japanese craftsmanship," the brand wrote in a statement. "The Shark Full-Zip Hoodie is not just a garment; it is a bold reinterpretation of everyday wear and an innovative take on the silhouettes of elevated streetwear."
BAPE's first and second-edition shark hoodies will launch on the brand's webstore on November 23. Take a look at the lineup in the gallery above.
