The Yorkshire Vet star admits 'I feel really sad' as beloved sheep falls unwell

The Yorkshire Vet: Guest 'heartbroken' as sheep has tingly cough

The latest instalment of The Yorkshire Vet saw high drama when a sheep fell ill.

In the outing aired on Tuesday evening (November 12), vets from the rolling hills of Yorkshire were once again seen tending to a host of farm creatures and domestic pets. However, a single pet owner, plagued by her sheep's persistent cough, found herself in despair.

Grace, the shepherdess with a passion for her flock, confessed she was "heartbroken" upon discovering one of her sheep grappling with a severe sore throat. The poor ewe, named Lancelot, was in urgent need of veterinary intervention as Grace observed him shaking his head vigorously in an effort to clear his cough.

Despite her concerns, veterinarian Julian sprang into action, aiming to restore Lancelot's health. After delivering a dose of medication, Julian confidently assured that improvement was on the horizon.

His advice: "That will take away an infection that's there; it concentrates in the lung tissue, and it persists in the lung tissue for quite a while. So it's perfect for this kind of thing," reports Yorkshire Live.

He further recommended, "I think from here, just see how he gets on. Keep him fairly steady, and try not to let him do too much running around."

A distraught Grace later expressed: "I feel really sad. It sounds not so terrible I know but I love them all. So just to think of him with some stodgy lungs going on, that's really sad."

Fortuitously, Julian's guidance yielded results, and later in the show, viewers were updated on Lancelot's recovery journey.

Appearing significantly more cheerful, she disclosed that Lancelot had made a complete turnaround since their last encounter. His cough had also vanished, prompting Grace to resume her other activities.

In another segment of the Channel 5 programme, veterinarian Peter was confronted with his own challenge when he had to assist in the birth of a baby calf. In an effort to ensure the survival of both the calf and its mother, Daisy, Peter had to resort to extreme measures.

At one stage, Peter had his entire arm inside Daisy as he attempted to help deliver her newborn. Fortunately, the birth was successful, leaving both the calf and Daisy in excellent health.

The Yorkshire Vet airs Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 5.
