WNBA star Caitlin Clark will go head-to-head with Women's golfing sensation Nelly Korda next month - and the basketballer has already made it clear that she has huge admiration for the 26-year-old.

The Indiana Fever guard had previously hinted that she would like to turn to professional golf in the basketball off-season. While it doesn't look like she'll be taking to the links in a full-time capacity anytime soon, it has been announced that she will take part in the LPGA (The Ladies Professional Golf Association) Pro-Am competition on Wednesday, November 13, where she is also set to be a panellist at the Women’s Leadership Summit.

In addition to playing alongside tournament host and 10-time major winner Annika Sorenstam, Clark will play nine holes with Korda in the 18-hole pro-am. Korda's impact on women's golf has been compared to the huge waves Clark has made for women's basketball.

Korda began the year with six victories in her first eight starts, causing many to ponder if the American could have a Clark-like impact on the LPGA. Clark’s legendary first season in the WNBA came to an end in late September after the Fever were knocked out of the play-offs.

However, the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer frequently drew record crowds at both the collegiate and professional levels. Speaking of her love for golf, Clark revealed that she is thrilled to be taking part in the event.

"I love golf, so the opportunity to play in the pro-am for a tournament with a legend like Annika Sorenstam’s name on it is so exciting," said Clark.

With Korda and Clark both spearheading a major movement in American sports for women there has been a lot of talk of the relationship between the pair. Especially as now, they'll be facing off on the course.

While Clark has not addressed her feelings publicly, she did 'like' a post by Nike on Instagram, which was focused on Korda. Coming after Korda's second championship victory this year, the sportswear brand posted a photo of Korda with the words 'The future just made history' emblazoned across it.

Clark endorsed the Instagram post, clearly agreeing with Nike's lofty opinions of the golf star. However, while Korda is making major strides, the Augusta Chairman, Fred Ridley said Clark's rise in the WNBA has captured people's imaginations perhaps more than Korda has.

Ridley claimed people's preference for Clark over Korda may have to do with her origins as an amateur and her "passion." He also revealed back in April that he started watching the WNBA more just for Clark.

“I have to confess that, in spite of my love of the game and the women’s game of golf, I haven’t watched a lot of women’s basketball, but I watched the last three or four games that Iowa played this year," he said.

"So there you go. I mean, it’s just the way she plays, the way Caitlin plays the game, her passion, her energy, it just — it really just captures the imagination of the fans.”

Clark has insisted she can't wait to get on the links, saying: "I'm looking forward to seeing all the LPGA players on the driving range, being part of the Women's Leadership Summit, and, of course, teeing it up in the pro-am with Annika."

Last summer, Clark created a frenzy at the John Deere Classic Pro-Am when she played alongside Zach Johnson and Ludvig Aberg. Fans should maybe expect the same sort of fever again when Clark steps onto the course.
