Sister Boniface actor Max Brown's life from career breakthrough to model

Max Brown, the star of Sister Boniface, has enjoyed a prolific TV career with big roles in Spooks and The Tudors. The British actor is currently portraying DI Sam Gillespie in the 1960s mystery drama Sister Boniface Mysteries, where he assists a crime-solving nun in investigating crimes across the fictional town of Great Slaughter.

His latest role as the dedicated DI has garnered him a fresh wave of fans who appreciate his commitment to solving crimes. Now in his 40s, Max has made appearances in Spooks, The Tudors, Downton Abbey and various US TV shows.

Early life and career of Max Brown

Born in Yorkshire but primarily raised in Shrewsbury with his two sisters Chloe and Phoebe, Max had aspirations of becoming an actor from a young age and frequently performed at the local Music Hall in the Shropshire town, reports the Mirror.

In his twenties, he gained recognition as heartthrob Danny Hartson in the 25th series of CBBC series Grange Hill before portraying the charming Kristian Hargreaves in Hollyoaks. He later appeared as Mark Russell in the ITV revival of Crossroads.

Max also featured as Mark Russell in Crossroads, as well as episodes of Casualty, Doctors and ITV drama Heartbeat.

The actor went on to play dastardly Edward Seymour, the powerhungry elder brother of Henry VIII's third wife Jane, in BBC drama The Tudors.

In 2010, he was cast as MI5 Piracy and Terrorism Case Officer Dimitri Levendis in the BBC One drama series Spooks until its final season in 2011. He originated the role of Adam Wainwright in Foyle's War, though the role needed to be re-cast when Brown moved to the United States.

Max made his US breakthrough with Beauty & the Beast, where he appeared as Evan Marks for 18 episodes. He later appeared as Orion in Sleepy Hollow.

Recent years have seen Max appear as King Robert in The Royals, Michael Carter in Marvel series Agent Carter, Richard Ellis in the Downton Abbey film and Michael Summerton in ITV drama Nolly.

Who is Max Brown married to?

After his marriage to Pollyanna Rose ended in divorce in 2008, Brown wed model Annabelle Horsey at Dorset's Sherborne Abbey four years later.

They first crossed paths with his future wife, a Clarins model and trained chef, in a London pub. The pair married at a star-studded ceremony with guests including David Walliams and Fearne Cotton.

Together, Max Brown and his wife share two daughters and one son.

Celebrating his wedding anniversary in 2023, an affectionate post from Max read: "11 years of marriage to this wonderful women. I knew I was lucky when you said Yes but I never imagined how incredible our life would be together with our beautiful family."
