More preferential policies for HK on the way: HKMAO

The Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office (HKMAO) says the central government was committed to supporting the development of Hong Kong and Macau, and more preferential policies for the two SARs were on the way. In an article published on Sunday, the HKMAO said Beijing had rolled out favourable policies according to the needs of Hong Kong and Macau, such as raising the duty-free shopping allowance and increasing the number of mainland cities for individual travel to Hong Kong and Macau. The office also noted the recent improvements in Hong Kong's international rankings in finance, business environment, and IPO fundraising, while Macau had retained its title of Asia's best convention city. "Hong Kong and Macau's 'golden signboards' are shining brighter, and their economies are increasingly 'coming alive' and 'heating up'," the HKMAO wrote. The HKMAO added the two SARs would continue to flourish by leveraging their high levels of internationalisation, market-oriented systems, and rule of law. "With the strong backing of the great motherland, the compatriots of Hong Kong and Macau will certainly create a better future," the article read.
