BBC Strictly Come Dancing viewers issue same complaint just minutes into live show

New set of celebrities prepare for Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing has returned, but it didn't take long for the first complaint about the new 2024 series to surface.

On Saturday evening (September 21), the first live show of this year's series commenced, following last week's launch episode where the celebrities and their professional partners were revealed.

Presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman are back at the helm, guiding viewers through the performances as 15 new couples strive to dance their way to victory and lift the coveted Glitterball trophy.

But before the dancing competition got underway for the first live show of the season, the contestants were introduced with a pre-recorded segment of them arriving at Elstree Studios, reports the Mirror.

The intro intro included JB Gill leaving a stage performance, Pete Wicks exiting his podcast studio and Shayne Ward getting a spray tan.

But Strictly viewers weren't bowled over by the start of the show and took to social media, with one person writing on X: "#Strictly I wish they would stop filling the time with we don’t need to see all this. Stop wasting time.."

A second added: "#Strictly that intro was weird." While a third chimed in: "The opening credits going for a comedy feel this year, I love it! #Strictly."

One exclaimed: "These intros are giving big brother vibes #Strictly."

While another added: "#SCD Missing the old orchestra intro music. #Strictly."

Audiences will have the opportunity to get involved when the voting lines open next Saturday (September 28). The first elimination of the series will be broadcast the following night (Sunday, September 29).

Tonight's action begins at 7pm on BBC One, but there won't be a results show this weekend.
