Emmerdale: Caleb Milligan defensive over daughter Stephanie

Emmerdale enthusiasts were thrown into turmoil with the revelation of Caleb (portrayed by Will Ash) and Ruby Milligan's (Beth Cordingly) unknown daughter Stephanie.

Earlier in the week, viewers watched as Caleb coldly visited Ruby's ailing mother Helen (played by Sharon Maughan) at the hospital.

A fierce showdown unfolded resulting in Caleb coercing Helen out of a staggering £100k for a mere visit to her sickbed. However, in a cruel twist of fate, by the time Ruby came to reconcile with her estranged mother, death had already claimed Helen, leaving Ruby utterly devastated and oblivious to Caleb's despicable act.

The loss has plunged Ruby into despair, leading her to ponder over their estranged children, Nicky and Stephanie, igniting speculation among viewers as to who Stephanie is and whether her arrival in the village looms on the horizon.

"How did we end up here? With two kids who don't want anything to do with us," Ruby lamented during Friday's episode. "I thought we would be better at this being parents," reports Leeds Live.

"Me too," Caleb acknowledged and prodded: "So what are you going to do? Are you going to ring her?"

Ruby declined, stating: "No, I know what I said but you are right, I'd only be doing it because it's what I need. If she wants anything to do with us, she knows where we are.

"She doesn't need me putting my grief on her, think we have screwed her up enough already."

"Maybe one day, eh? " Caleb concluded.

Ever since Stephanie was first mentioned on 'Emmerdale', the rumour mill has been in overdrive with fans throwing around wild theories about her identity and connections within the village.

One devoted viewer took to X, previously known as Twitter, to opine: "I want Kim to take Stephanie under her wing to screw with Caleb/Ruby (whom I love)... #Emmerdale."

A fellow fan fired back with a speculative: "OMG what if Kim already knows about Stephanie because of the Tate connection?"

The speculation didn't stop there, as some enthusiasts believe that Stephanie could have ties to Kim's son, Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln). One theorist mused: "Kids? Plural! Who is Steph? ! Technically translates as 'More Tates.'" (sic).

Yet another avid watcher suggested a complex familial twist, saying: "So where is Steph? Here's a theory... she is now abroad and has met Joe Tate or Jamie on her travels....thus making her a part of the family already."
