Vera Stanhope's death 'sealed' in heartbreaking final episodes after fans spot 'clue'

Heartbreaking final episodes of the popular ITV show Vera might have sealed DCI Vera Stanhope's fate after fans deciphered a massive 'clue' during filming. The end may be near for the beloved character, played by actress Brenda Blethyn.

Blethyn is set to wave goodbye to her role following the forthcoming series. With just two more episodes left with her in the titular role, the looming question remains on how the show will wrap up.

In an announcement last week, Brenda confirmed she was hanging up her hat and that the show was drawing to a close. She stated: "Working on Vera has been a joy from beginning to end and I'm sad to be saying cheerio. But I am so proud of our achievements over the last fourteen years."

"I'll be forever grateful to the wonderful Ann Cleeves who created Vera, and to Elaine Collins who saw fit to cast me in the role. The producers, dream cast and crew have been fabulous and I'm going to miss them, but I won't forget their huge talent, the camaraderie, laughter or kindness we shared nor the friendship of the people of the northeast and our fans worldwide."

In the remaining two episodes, viewers can anticipate seeing Vera teaming up with her squad, including DI Joe Ashworth (played by David Leon), to crack two more murder mysteries before her run comes to an end. However, a fan who had been tracking the filming in the north has unsettled viewers after spotting a hint on set indicating that Vera might meet her untimely end in the show's final episodes, reports the Mirror.

As one onlooker observed the shoot, they excitedly called out "Vera" in an attempt to grab Brenda Blethyn's attention.

They later realised their mistake, having actually been calling out to a stunt double donning Vera's iconic coat and hat.
