GMB: Richard Madeley cuts Laura Tobin off mid-sentence

star issued a one-word reply after she was cut off by . The 42-year-old joined Richard and in the studio on Thursday (May 2) as she shared the latest forecast updates with viewers.

On Sunday (April 28), Kate attended her first red carpet event since the death of her husband Derek Draper. Taking to the stage at The Variety Club Showbusiness Awards, the presenter was honoured with an award for her Outstanding Contribution to TV and Radio.

During today's instalment of GMB, Laura asked whether Kate had the award with her. "I have got it with me," she said, clarifying: "Not in the studio though."

Both Laura and Richard insisted their co-star should bring her award into the studio, to which she agreed. The meteorologist was keen to say something to Kate as she quipped: "Can I just say..."

However, Richard interjected: "Coming up on Good Morning Britain..." Laura sighed as she simply whispered: "Okay." It comes after Kate took to Instagram since Derek's sad passing.

The broadcaster announced that in January following years of serious health complications caused by Coronavirus.

Kate shared a trio of snaps from her evening alongside an emotional statement. She began: "Well this was a moment. My first red carpet event, following Derek’s passing - and WHAT an event.

"I’ve been aware of the incredible work @variety does over its 75 years to help disabled & disadvantaged children & heard that it’s awards do’s are always the glitziest."

The ITV presenter added: "I was so pleased to have an invite to attend but then to actually WIN an award was an incredible honour - a silver heart for Outstanding Contribution to TV & Radio - I guess if you cling on long enough you eventually make a contribution!!!!!! And then to be presented it by @benshephardofficial - so special. Congrats to all the winners."

Fans rushed to support Kate in the comments, with one writing: "Absolutely deserved. Congratulations. Derek would be proud.!

Another penned: "Huge congrats Kate you are very deserving of this award and people see that! Well done you," as a third echoed: "You deserve it, Kate. You light up the screen when you are on. You're enthusiasm even after what you been through is amazing. You are a special lady."
