Katie Piper says kids 'aren't interested' in her work as she 'juggles' family and career

Katie Piper wowed the world when she turned tragedy into triumph, surviving a terrifying 2008 acid attack and going on to net the showbiz career of her dreams in spite of all the adversity. Her latest project is Katie Piper's Breakfast Show which sees her chat with six different celebrity guests each week - but her two kids, Belle Elizabeth and Penelope Diane, are a little too young at the minute to appreciate her success.

Asked whether the pair have had any favourite moments from the show, she admitted to Express.co.uk that they're "not interested". "They're only six and eleven, so they're more into Roblox!" she joked.

Katie continued that there have been times when she's found it tough to combine motherhood with a packed work schedule, but that she's "super grateful for the opportunity". "I think any career, any job with parenting - motherhood or fatherhood - is always going to be exactly what you say, a juggle, and I think you just accept that," she explained.

When it comes to work, the 40-year-old has been busy chatting to a range of podcasters, experts, influencers and celebrities for the ITV1 show - and has especially enjoyed interacting with comedian Jo Brand. "We had Jo for our first episode. I really like her. I watched all her comedy growing up, so she was a great guest," she explained.

However, she added: "Don't make me have a favourite!", explaining that everyone she's spoken to so far has "brought something different each episode". Katie was talking at the BAFTA TV Craft Awards, an annual show which aims to celebrate the behind the scenes talents who bring our favourite TV shows together.

The ceremony honoured those who were instrumental in building Black Mirror, Silo, The Last of Us, Three Little Birds and Happy Valley to name just a few.

Katie admitted she's been glued to Happy Valley, explaining: "I was late to the party on that, and I discovered it on the aeroplane, and I was just transfixed. I thought Sarah Lancashire was incredible."

However, she wasn't sure whether to demonise villainous Tommy Lee Royce (played by James Norton).

His heart-rending final scenes had viewers alternately feeling twinges of sympathy for him and shaking their fists at the screens in fury - and Katie was no exception.

"I think I changed my mind a lot throughout, and I suppose that shows you that's what real life is like, isn't it? It's never black and white," she mused.

The star, who shone in an elegant silver dress for the ceremony, added that there's another show she's been hooked on too.

"I have been watching Baby Reindeer, like everybody else. I think that's been a really important show that's opened up debate and conversations," she exclaimed, adding that she'd done a huge binge watch in one single night.

Later in the evening, she presented the award for Best Production Design, which went to the hardworking team behind Silo

She praised that the awards exist "to celebrate the reason we have television - all the amazing people in production".
