This Morning's Ben Shephard leaves fans raging as he makes awkward UK city blunder

This Morning: Ben and Cat chat to The Piano star Duncan and wife Fran

ITV viewers who tuned into This Morning on Tuesday noticed a huge blunder with host Ben Shephard. The daytime presenter was interviewing The Piano star Duncan, 80, who appeared on the show via video link with his wife, Fran.

Over the weekend, the new series of Channel 4's The Piano aired as talented musicians performed on a giant seven-metre piano. The show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, looks for new pianists to perform at the Royal Festival Hall.

One performance that left viewers in tears involved Duncan, who had recently been diagnosed with dementia. He was supported by his wife Fran and he had been playing the piano since the age of four years old.

He dedicated his piano song to his wife and it has since gone viral online. Duncan and Fran were invited to speak on This Morning about their experience on The Piano and his diagnosis.

As Ben Shephard introduced viewers to the couple, he accidentally said that the couple were calling from Manchester. In reality, the pair were tuning in from Harrogate via a video link.

A second person chimed in: "Manchester?? that says Harrogate. I don’t think geography is bens strong point #thismorning," completed with a laughing face emoji.

A third typed: "Duncan & Fran are in Harrogate not Manchester Ben love," as another said: "Manchester? It says Harrogate #ThisMorning."

At the end of his interview, Duncan played a beautiful melody on the piano that left viewers emotional. One person reacted: "Aww what a lovely couple #ThisMorning."

Another viewer commented: "Love and life are so precious. But b***dy hell #ThisMorning you have made me cry yet again on a Tuesday. Bless Duncan and Fran x."

This Morning airs weekly on ITV and ITVX at 10am.
