This Morning viewers divided as they 'switch off' after A-list segment

This Morning: Alison Hammond interviews Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt

This Morning viewers had a mixed reaction to Alison Hammond's interview with Hollywood heavyweights Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt with one even saying they had "switched off" the ITV daytime show over it. It was Alison's second time chatting to Ryan and her previous meeting with him talking about Blade Runner 2049 alongside his co-star Harrison Ford went viral and became This Morning's most viewed clip ever.

No doubt they were hoping to repeat the magic sending her to interview him in advance of the release of his new film The Fall Guy, based on the 1980s TV series of the same name, which starred Lee Majors. As she sat down with him she asked: "Do you remember me, Ryan? " to which he affirmed, "Yes."7

The chat quickly took a turn as she reminisced about their previous encounter: "That was so much fun that day! " and recalled how Ryan once took over the camera during an interview. This led Alison to cheekily suggest: "Maybe you should interview me and Emily?" leading Ryan to challenge them to be "funny".

He swapped places with Alison and put her questions to her and Emily instead. Emily actually agreed that it was a great dynamic saying that Alison was a better partner because she agreed with everything she said whereas Ryan was a contrarian.

Alison found the whole encoutner hilarious and cackled with laughter throughout. However This Morning viewers were divided about the high profile interview.

@cnep80 fumed: "@thismorning are obsessed with Alison Hammond... They do realise there are other presenters don't they!!!! #alisonhammond #thismorning."

In a preview for this chat Alison fondly recalled a memorable moment from her previous interview with Ryan and Harrison, where she debated honesty versus flattery, recounting, "[Ryan] asked the question, 'Are you a big fan of the film? ', and I was like, 'Well, no I'm not! Do I tell him the truth? Do I lie? What do I do? '".

"But I thought, you know what, my mum always says, always tell the truth, so I said, 'I've never seen it, babes', and I think that got things going. He started laughing and I started laughing, and it settled the moment.

"After, I thought, 'Was that any good? Have we got anything? I don't think we've got any content about the film whatsoever.' I can remember my producer saying, 'Don't worry, we can do something with that, it'll be fine'."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
