Coronation Street fans are abuzz with speculation that a Weatherfield icon, Becky McDonald, might be set to make an electrifying comeback to save Roy Cropper from his current predicament.

Katherine Kelly, who portrayed the feisty Becky, first burst onto the scene in 2006 as a troubled youth before being taken under the wing of Roy (David Neilson) and Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh).

In recent episodes, Roy found himself in hot water after being arrested and charged with the murder of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), a young girl who vanished earlier this year, last seen by none other than Roy himself, reports the Daily Star.

Detective Sergeant Lisa Swain quickly zeroed in on Roy as the prime suspect, leading to his incarceration. This has led fans to speculate that Becky might swoop in to rescue Roy from his dire situation.

On a Coronation Street Reddit thread dedicated to discussing characters that viewers long to see again, Becky's name has been repeatedly mentioned. One fan emphatically stated: "Becky 100%."

Another chimed in with: "Becky, she could come and help ar Roy."

Echoing the sentiment, a third fan wrote: "Becky for Roy's sake! ".
