Britain's Got Talent fans say the same thing as they 'work out' identity of Batman singer

Britain's Got Talent contestant sings in Batman costume

fans were left in disbelief after a contestant dressed up as the superhero Batman started singing opera. Fans who tuned into Saturday's auditions were treated to more eager contenders to impress the judges.

As the show kicked off, an unnamed male called The Dark Hero walked onto the stage wearing a Batman costume. He didn't reveal his identity and stayed completely mute, with the crowd left confused with his silence.

Judge Alesha Dixon allowed him to start his act and then suddenly he broke into song, singing Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked. Fans of the show were shocked at his musical talent and took to social media to guess his identity.

One person penned on X: "I’ve never seen a singing Batman before but my goodness he’s good," as a second commented: "Why's @elonmusk on #bgt hanging from the ceiling, singing opera dressed as Batman?"

A third chimed in: "Elphaba????!? #bgt #BGT #britainsgottalent," as a fourth person said: "Guys got a good voice, he could’ve left the Batman costume at home though #BGT."

A fifth person said: "A man dressed as Batman, singing Defying Gravity and actually doing the flying bit from Wicked is just a normal thing to see on #BGT atp."

All four judges were so impressed by his singing voice and couldn't quite believe the voice coming from the unknown male. They were all in agreement that he had to be sent through to the next round.

Hosts Ant and Dec also loved the audition, with Dec walking out onto the stage afterward pretending to be the contender's sidekick Robin as a joke.

Also during the programme, a musician showed off his talent for making dog barking noises and a gospel choir wowed the judges with their musical abilities.

Ant and Dec have hosted the ITV talent show since its inception in 2007. What's more, Amanda Holden has also been a judge on the programme since day one.

Alesha joined the talent show in 2012, but she was previously a judge on Strictly Come Dancing in 2009 after replacing Arlene Phillips.

Britain's Got Talent airs on Saturdays at 7:30pm on ITV and ITVX.
