Robbie Williams' wife Ayda breaks down in tears over popstar's past 'It's super upsetting'

Ayda Field shares her reaction to Robbie Williams documentary

On Thursday’s instalment of the panel welcomed back star Ayda Field after a five-year break. The 44-year-old, who is married to pop sensation detailed her husband’s Netflix documentary.

The four-part series gave people an insight into Robbie’s struggle with mental health and addiction. However, there was one particular moment in the documentary that Ayda admitted was a struggle to watch.

It featured Robbie reflecting on having a panic attack when performing on stage in his younger years. As the clip from the documentary finished, Christine Lampard said: "I find it really tough to watch so I can see and understand completely why you do because you lived this.”

Ayda was visibly emotional by the clip as she wiped tears away from her eyes before speaking on the subject. After composing herself, she told her co-stars: “It’s super upsetting.”

Admitting that she hadn’t seen any of the documentary until the week before it aired, she hadn’t seen much of the footage that was going to be included. Although she told the Loose Women panel she’d heard stories from Robbie about his past, it was different to see it play out.

She continued: “To see the person you love the most in this world, to watch their trauma, it’s like watching the cuts happen.

“To see his pain and to not be able to jump in and fix it, to save him, to protect him, is so upsetting.

“It’s weird it’s obviously in the past but you’re watching it and you’re watching someone experience deep pain and there’s nothing you can do about it.

“It becomes incredibly vivid when you see it play out, it’s so bizarre to watch a story you know from the past, be the real thing.”

Ayda confessed that after she’d watched the Netflix documentary, she felt as though she’d been emotionally hit by a bus.

Detailing there was a lot for her to process, it gave her an even deeper understanding of the pain Robbie had felt and the battles he’s faced.

She added: “I’m incredibly proud of the man he is today.

“I’m incredibly proud of his recovery and the way he has navigated some of this, but it is so hard for me to watch that.”
