could cash in on the performances of three loaned-out stars this summer, which would help to compensate for the inevitable loss they are set to take on the misfiring Tanguy Ndombele. Spurs have struggled to shift the midfielder since he last played for the club more than two years ago.

Loan spells at Lyon, Napoli and now Galatasaray have failed to see Ndombele rediscover the form he showed during his younger years in Ligue 1, which convinced Tottenham to part with a club record £63million back in 2019.

The 27-year-old has managed only four league starts in Turkey this campaign, meaning prospects of a permanent move to Galatasaray are remote. With one year remaining on his Spurs contract, interest could be hard to come by this summer.

Even if the north Londoners do manage to offload Ndombele, they will surely only be able to recoup a fraction of the eye-watering fee dished out to Lyon four years ago.

But the outlook isn't totally bleak for manager Ange Postecoglou, who decided last summer that several senior players wouldn't feature in his long-term plans and would consequently be better off spending the campaign out on loan.

Three of those decisions have paid dividends, and permanent sales this summer would go some way towards offsetting the financial cost of Ndombele's dismal spell in the Premier League. Of the trio in question, Joe Rodon has enjoyed the most consistent season, with the Welshman playing a key role in Leeds United's Championship promotion push.

The Whites may end up regretting the absence of a permanent buy option in the loan deal they agreed with Spurs last summer, with Rodon's commanding displays at the back sure to drum up plenty of interest.

Spurs paid an initial £11million to sign Rodon from Swansea in 2020, and they could now turn a profit on him at the end of the season. Things are also looking up for left-back Sergio Reguilon, who started this term on loan at Manchester United before heading to Brentford in January.

With four assists in 12 games for the Bees, Reguilon has been a smash hit under Thomas Frank. It remains to be seen whether Brentford can raise the cash necessary to sign him permanently, or whether another interested party can make a dent in the £32m Spurs paid Sevilla three years ago.

Although a loss could still be on the cards, Reguilon's value has increased significantly as a result of heading out on loan, and would surely have plummeted if he was left to collect dust on the bench by Postecoglou.

Like Reguilon, fellow loaned-out Spurs defender Japhet Tanganga's season started badly before taking a turn for the better in the winter. Starved of game time at Bundesliga side Augsburg, Tanganga was recalled before being sent out to Millwall.

The 25-year-old has bagged twice in 16 Championship appearances so far, and as a homegrown Tottenham academy product, anything they raise through a permanent summer sale would go into the accounts as pure profit.
