Britain's Got Talent sparks Ofcom fury after 'disgusting' act saw judges storm off

BGT: Bruno and Alesha walk offstage after Amanda burps

Fans of Britain's Got Talent have complained to Ofcom after a 'disgusting' act was shown this weekend.

The first installment of the ITV talent show's 2024 reboot garnered up 54 complaints to the regulatory body.

It comes after an American woman called Kimberly Winter, 34, took to the stage to show off an unusual trick.

Hearing ABBA's track The Winner Takes It All begin playing, the judges and fans alike thought that the contestant was about to start singing but instead she surprised, and disgusted, everyone as she began burping instead.

The act saw judges Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli press their red buzzers and walk off, as social media went mad with people slamming the act.

Simon Cowell and Amanda appeared to find Kimberly hilarious, as Amanda did her own version of the act by belching loudly into her mic.

Amanda wasn't afraid to continue burping and told everyone "it takes a lot of effort" to which Strictly Come Dancing star Bruno replied: "I am bitterly disappointed."

Amanda laughed off his comments before Simon even burped down his microphone followed by his son Eric who stepped up to his seat.

One X (formerly Twitter) user said: "Sorry a women burping is not talent it’s gross! This show has seriously gone down hill #bgt."

Another added: "If a woman burping on TV constitutes Saturday night entertainment and gets the thumbs-up on a talent show, then every act that follows her should get an automatic pass into the next round. #bgt"

Now Ofcom has been inundated with complaints and recieved 54 angry messages about Saturday's show.

The act certainly seemed to be like Marmite, with people either absolutely loving it or hating it.
