Nursery worker jailed for abusing children at a pre-school in Staffordshire

A nursery worker has been jailed for 10 years after sexually abusing young children at a pre-school in Staffordshire.

Craig Ordish was employed to look after the youngsters, but instead abused his position to carry out horrific crimes involving touching and inciting a child to take part in sexual activity.

The 39-year-old was sentenced to 10 years behind bars at Stafford Crown Court.

At a hearing in November, Ordish pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a girl under 13, another count of inciting a child to engage in a sexual act, five counts of making indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child and possession of extreme pornographic images.

He was jailed for 10 years at Stafford Crown Court on Friday (April 19), and was handed an extended license period of three years.

Ordish was also given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and put on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Speaking after the case, Detective Inspector Helen Kirkland, of Staffordshire Police’s public protection team, said: ‘Craig Ordish abused his position of trust to commit abhorrent crimes against young children who he was supposed to be caring for.

‘I’d like to thank the families who have been involved in this case for their support and cooperation. Together with our partners, we have safeguarded and supported all those involved in the investigation.

‘We will continue to target those engaged in child sexual abuse and bring them to justice.’
