The TV duo hosted Thursday's instalment (April 18) of the BBC programme where they shared the top headlines with viewers across the country. This included the mention of Couch to 5K programme, an exercise plan for beginners which enables them to run 5 kilometres in just nine weeks.

Naga, 49, and Charlie, 61, spoke to broadcaster Jo Whiley and running coach Jane Dennison about the programme. Naga admitted her struggles when she first started running, telling the duo what would have motivated her as a beginner.

She explained: "I think when I started running I would have like someone to go, 'This is rubbish. It feels really hard. Keep going, it's rubbish for everyone'. That would have motivated me more."

Charlie went on to brand himself as the only "non runner" amongst the four sat on the sofa, to which Naga asked: "Have you run before?"

The presenter responded: "I have run but I'm not someone who goes out for a run. I don't do that. And there's so many things that worry you about it... what to wear."

Charlie added: "Everybody else appears to be able to run effortlessly, even if they're going slowly. A lot of it is kind of intimidating!"

Jane explained no matter what kind of runner someone is, the hardest step is getting yourself out of the door. Naga disagreed, saying: "Actually it's the step before. Getting your kit on and saying you're going to do it."

Sharing the hardest part for him, Charlie quipped: "I think it's the step before that. The night before you know you're going to give it a try and you're worrying about it."

Jo, who is one of the voices on the Couch to 5k app, suggested Charlie should give the programme a go. The news reader managed to dodge the question as he queried more about the app.

"Is there a variety? Can you choose an angry voice or a very kind voice? Presumably there's a whole bunch of people you can choose," he quizzed the radio DJ.

Jo explained that if Charlie wants an expert, he should go with Steve Cram. The BBC star replied: "What's his approach? It's probably quite competitive I'm guessing.

At the end of the interview, Jane said that it can be beneficial for beginners to run with someone. Naga quickly put her co-star forward as she asked: "Will you run with Charlie as he's a beginner?"

The guests both agreed but Charlie didn't seem too keen on the idea. "It just makes me feel a bit anxious," he confessed.
