ISO.POETISM by Tobias Birk Nielsen FW23 Is Set in Stone
ISO.POETISM by Tobias Birk Nielsen has returned to Copenhagen Fashion Week to present its latest tech-forward creations. Often calling on abstract emotional conditions that define the human experience, the brand keeps eco-friendly practices at the forefront and does so across its Fall/Winter 2023 collection.
Dubbed "AW23' COPENHAGEN OBSIDIAN SOCIETY (13)*," guests were welcomed into the capital's iconic Bella Center and prepared to step foot into a psychedelic stone-filled landscape. The scene delivered an ancient feel while rocks of all sizes hung from thin ropes tied to the ceiling. Various fabrics enveloped each boulder, reflecting the designer's childhood hobby of collecting the natural substance.
During the design process, Nielsen recalled the emotional pleasures he encountered while searching for stones and aimed to channel the feelings of joy, freedom, and gratitude. With this in mind, the collection mirrors human connection with nature while exploring Mother Earth's power of giving.
As is customary for ISO.POETISM, practical manipulations were maintained across the collection, featuring wrap-around padded vests, slouchy cargo pants, and detachable dresses attached like backpacks. Mineral-like prints adorn branded sweatsuits, lightweight shirting, and insulating pairings for breezy weather conditions while also landing on inflated garments with circular rock embellishments and slip dresses for women.
Further natural graphics jump from look to look, mutually crafted with a sustainable outlook and recycled materials. Elsewhere, the brand unites with Italian imprint KAPPA to create a collaborative capsule titled "AUTOFOCUS." By merging the DNA of both labels, Nielsen dove into KAPPA's extensive archive and reconstructed several garments to give them new life. The duo crafts a series of new designs pulled from the future by utilizing undetectable reverse imagery technology.

Elsewhere at Copenhagen Fashion Week, Henrik Vibskov FW23 proved that slow and steady wins the race.
