Anthony Kim, the former PGA Tour star, is set to make a return to LIV Golf for the 2025 season after his surprising comeback to men's professional golf earlier this year.
After a 12-year hiatus, Kim chose to sign with the breakaway league for the 2024 campaign as a wildcard alongside Hudson Swafford.
It was uncertain whether his original deal would extend into 2025, but sources close to LIV have confirmed to Mirror US that an agreement has been reached for his return.
Despite failing to score a single point in the season-long standings after competing in 10 events on the Saudi-backed circuit since his comeback at LIV Jeddah in March, Kim was exempt from relegation from the league due to his wildcard status.
Reports suggest Swafford has not been offered another LIV contract, meaning he will not be returning
The only thing yet to be decided is what role the 39-year-old will play on the 2025 LIV roster. Kim could potentially make a comeback to the league as a solo wildcard.
Insiders at LIV have hinted that there might be a 'wildcard team' assembled to compete alongside the 13 franchises, which Kim could join. Another possible path for Kim could be securing a spot on one of the established teams, with his name being associated with Dustin Johnson's 4Aces in recent times.
Johnson is faced with decisions about his team's future, after two of his players, Pat Perez and Harold Varner III, narrowly avoided relegation by finishing in the Open Zone. According to Sports Illustrated, the 4Aces captain is seeking young talent for his 2025 team.
Although Kim, at 39, doesn't fit this profile, he has been seen as a good fit for the franchise, having been invited to warm up with the Aces ahead of LIV Greenbrier in August. If Kim were to join Johnson's team, either Perez or Varner III would have to leave.
Perez was at risk of losing his spot on the roster last year but was given a contract extension by his captain. Meanwhile, Varner III was traded to the 4Aces last offseason, leaving the RangeGoats and Peter Uihlein heading in the opposite direction.
