Micah Richards was banned from joining in with his fellow pundits as CBS Sports entertained viewers with a hilarious segment about French club Brest. The Ligue 1 outfit are playing in the Champions League for the first time in their history and travelled to the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys to take on Spanish giants Barcelona on Tuesday night.

Brest qualified for the Champions League after finishing third in the French top flight last term and had won three of their first four matches ahead of their clash with Barca.

But their name continues to amuse fans of a puerile nature - and CBS Sports decided to have some fun with it.

Presenter Kate Abdo started the section by speaking in a serious tone as she told Richards: “We are going to do a segment about Brest.

“Unfortunately we do feel that you have consistently proven that you can’t stay professional in these segments where we’re talking about Brest so production would like to ask you if you’re comfortable just staying silent.”

Richards protested before Abdo continued: “We really think it’s for the best. Not a word, just silent, invisible, no laughs. Experience has taught us not to trust you in this area.”

And the host then apologised to the former Manchester City right-back as she added: “I’m sorry, if you can just agree and we can move on with the segment, please.”

The fun then began as Abdo asked if anyone liked Brest. Pundits Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher raised their hands, with the Liverpool hero explaining: “I do, I like the shape of them.”

He then alluded to the team’s two strikers as Henry chimed in: “A big pair up front who are going to trouble…”

And after Carragher admitted he has previously paid to see them, the Arsenal icon explained: “Basically one thing you can say is you don’t have to be big, you can be small and can compete.”

Abdo then wondered if Brest could be exposed on the night and Carragher replied: “I hope so.”

By that stage, Richards was in stitches as he struggled to stay out of the conversation and he interrupted by exclaiming: “What is this? What is this nonsense? HR. Wow.”

The double entendres continued to flow as Abdo quizzed Richards: “What do you reckon Micah, do you reckon Barcelona could come a bit quickly for Brest tonight?”

Carragher suggested the innuendos had crossed the line and Richards pleaded: “I’m taking the fifth.”
