The Masked Singer was "thrown into chaos" when Toad in the Hole stormed off the stage after being voted out of the competition.
During Saturday’s visit (January 12) to the ITV studios, Wolf, Bush, Toad in the Hole, Bear, and Pufferfish take to the stage to sing their hearts out for the nation.
It was up to the star-studded judging panel to work out who the famous faces were performing from behind the mask. Returning to the show as armchair detectives was Jonathan Ross, Maya Jama, Davina McCall, and Mo Gilligan.
But this week, the team welcomed a surprise guest judge Suranne Jones to the panel. After all acts had performed, the studio audience voted for their favourite character.
At the end of the show, Bear and Toad in the Hole found themselves in the bottom two and battled it out once more in a sing-off. The panel then voted for which act they wanted to see next week, which ultimately went to Bear as Toad in the Hole was unceremoniously sent packing.
As host Joel Dommett confirmed the news, Toad in the Hole halted the show and walked off stage before they could remove their mask, leaving the panel and viewers at home equally shocked, the Mirror.
Moments later, the character returned to the stage and was finally revealed to be American singer Macy Gray who looked disappoited to be leaving the reality show.
It didn't take long before fans flooded to X - formerly known as Twitter - to discuss the "awkward" incident online. One user penned: "Well that was awkward .... #maskedsingeruk."
Another asked: "Wow is Macy Gray really that heartbroken that she's been kicked off Masked Singer?" as a third echoed: "Oh everyone looks so awkward. She walked off stage. Cannot deal #maskedsingeruk #maskedsinger."
Manwhile, another quipped: "Did anyone else feel awkward watching the last few minutes of that... Macy Gray pls #maskedsingeruk."
