Coronation Street: Debbie Webster finds scarf in Kevin's bag

Coronation Street's Kevin Webster, played by Michael Le Vell, is set to face a significant health scare in the upcoming episodes as he gets diagnosed with testicular cancer.

In the forthcoming scenes, Debbie Webster (Sue Delvaney) drops by No. 13 and discovers a visibly distressed Kevin who reveals that he has found a lump.

A stunned Debbie encourages Kevin to confide his concerns about the lump to Abi Webster (Sally Carmen). However, when Kevin encounters an emotional Abi at her late son Seb Franklin's memorial garden, he decides it's not the right moment to share his alarming news.

Unaware of Kevin's predicament, Abi informs him that little Alfie Franklin is unwell with a cold, so she plans to stay home with him for the day. Meanwhile, Kevin consults Dr Gaddas who refers him for additional tests.

He confides his cancer fears to Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) before returning home to find Abi asleep on the sofa with Alfie, reports Lancs Live.

After taking Alfie upstairs, Debbie enters the house and Abi wakes up to find Alfie missing. She accuses Debbie of taking Alfie and defends her overreaction when Debbie attempts to leave.

Amidst the chaos, Kevin discloses to Abi that he has discovered a lump and might have testicular cancer, leaving Abi shocked. According to Gambling.com, soap veteran Michael, who first appeared in 1983, has odds of 11/10 to exit Coronation Street this year.

Producer Kate Brooks recently shed light on an upcoming plot twist, revealing: "As we go into the New Year, Kevin will discover that he's got testicular cancer, which causes a massive strain on his relationship."

She continued to explain the depth of the storyline, saying, "Abi is a really strong character, but she's going through her own turmoil at the same time. We want to tell this really truthfully."

Brooks emphasised the care taken in crafting the narrative: "We've been working closely with Macmillan to make sure that we tell the story right."

She also mentioned that the focus will be "about their relationship" and "testing that relationship". Viewers are left in suspense as to whether Kevin's diagnosis will lead to his departure from the cobbles after more than 40 years.

Coronation Street is on ITV at 8pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
