Skeleton Crew follows a group of four children who find themselves stranded from home after discovering a mysterious spaceship. They meet new allies and dubious characters as they try to navigate their way back from their unexpected adventure, reports the Daily Record.
Jude Law stars in a leading role, although many details about his character remain under wraps. Nick Frost also features as the voice of SM-33.
After a mixed response to more recent Star Wars releases, including the Acolyte series, fans will be relieved that the current reaction is largely positive. At the time of writing, Skeleton Crew holds a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
However, with six more episodes yet to be released between now and later in the new year, this rating could soon change.
One critic has already tipped the series for massive success, praising: "Skeleton Crew takes a new, unchallenging angle on a beloved entertainment institution, and does it well enough that it could easily become the most universally popular Star Wars product since The Mandalorian."
Additionally, another suggested that knowledge of the extensive Star Wars universe isnt necessary to enjoy the show: "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is beautifully-made and sweetly innocent, making it a radically rebellious take on a franchise that sometimes seems lost in its own lore."
Fans on social media are buzzing with excitement too, as one exclaimed: "Skeleton Crew is the most fun I've had with Star Wars in over half a decade. Who didn't dream of living out their childhood Star Wars fantasies? It puts us right back in those shoes. Pure joy that channels the fun of the trilogy with a Spielbergian sense of heart and adventure."
An eager viewer gave a nod to the series on Rotten Tomatoes, saying: "Goonies meets ET meets Stranger Things with pirates meets nostalgia cranked 400%. Thank you, we needed something refreshing, but something familiar."
Another fan was keen to share their exhilaration: "Watching Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew was like embarking on an exhilarating journey through the far reaches of the galaxy. This instalment in the iconic franchise managed to capture the essence of what makes Star Wars so beloved while adding its own unique charm."
A third enthused with a straightforward recommendation, telling fellow Star Wars enthusiasts: "It's so good! You must watch it."
