Kraven The Hunter teased in Sony Pictures trailer
Sony's latest foray into the Spider-Man universe with Kraven The Hunter has been met with harsh criticism, with it being branded it 'a pure waste of time'.
It has sparked a strong reaction from fans resulting in them sending a clear message over what they feel should happen next.
The entertainment giant has been churning out spin-offs featuring notorious villains and characters from the Spider-Man comics, such as Venom, Morbius, and Madame Web.
This strategy was aimed at leveraging the Marvel Cinematic Universe's popularity while exploiting the intellectual property rights they retained.
Despite owning the film rights to several Marvel characters, including Spider-Man, Sony negotiated a deal allowing Disney's Tom Holland to portray the web-slinger within the MCU.

While Holland's portrayal received acclaim and box office success, Sony's solo ventures have had a mixed reception.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars in the lead role of their newest addition, Kraven The Hunter. The film is described as: "A visceral, action-packed origin story of how and why one of Marvel's most iconic villains came to be. Kraven (Taylor-Johnson), a man whose complex relationship with his ruthless father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world, but also one of its most feared."
Ahead of the film's December 13 cinema release, early reviews indicate that it's failing to meet expectations. The movie has an unwelcome 13% score on Rotten Tomatoes, reports the Mirror.
Discussing Film delivered a brutal verdict on the movie: "As the last movie in Sony's Universe of Spider-Man villains, Kraven the Hunter couldn't have closed things out on a more pathetic note. This isn't like Madame Web where you can at least laugh at how bad it is. Just a total waste of time."
A more positive review came from The Observer who described it as: "This Spider-Man spin-off is entertaining-the action sequences hold together, blood gushes frequently, and Aaron Taylor Johnson dons a midriff-baring costume. But it's also convoluted and full of extraneous characters."
In contrast, Mashable relished its bizarre and fun qualities, stating: "This bonkers superhero movie is at its best when it takes risks with its wild and chaotic storytelling. With this, Kraven the Hunter brings pure adrenaline-fueled fun on the big screen."
Sony has faced severe criticism for the recent flop from its fans, as they called on the production house to return its characters to Disney, in the hope they can give these superheroes new life in the live-action genre under Marvel ownership. Fans left comments on reviews, with one saying: "They should be forced to give the characters to Disney ASAP."
Another fan chimed in, saying: "Good maybe with time we can forget this verse existed and the characters can all get a clean start, poor vulture stuck in a dead verse."
A third fan added: "Doing Spider-Man villain movies without Spider-Man was never gonna work."
Despite the setbacks, some enthusiasts are determined to give the film a chance, with one fan commenting: "So unfortunate, considering the R rating and the director had me almost convinced this would be good (or at least fun, like the Venom movies). Will probably still see it out of morbid curiosity and because it's the last of these weird spin-offs."
