David Jason talks iconic Only Fools and Horses moment

David Jason has shared an "uncomfortable" experience while working on Only Fools and Horses. The 84-year-old actor, renowned for his role as conman Del Boy in the BBC sitcom shared where the programme was really filmed - which may be surprising to some fans.

Writing in his book This Time Next Year, the veteran actor penned: "Anyway, movies are always transplanting things and pretending somewhere is somewhere else. Wait until those purists find out how many Westerns were shot in Spain."

Giving a little tidbit about the BBC sitcom, Only Fools, the legendary actor added: "Or, for that matter, that the lion's share of the Peckham scenes in Only Fools were shot in Bristol.

"Anyway, from the cast's point of view, the problem wasn't the location (which was perfectly lovely, in fact) so much as the time of year - a freezing, wet February which didn't exactly make for a comfortable experience for those of us involved in the film's many outdoor scenes."

He added: "And it especially didn't make for comfort during the outdoor scenes that involved clothing removal."

Sir David recently revealed that he now struggles to get cast in new roles, despite being such an iconic part of the 80s.

The actor admitted he was “desperately” trying to convince TV bosses to consider him.

David shared: “I'm trying desperately to convince producers and directors that I've got many characters still left to play.”

Speaking on his twilight years he added: “Senior actors have got a tremendous amount to offer.”

Despite not appearing in a scripted project since 2019, David told Radio Times, he was “open to offers.”

While David was once a huge name in television, the TV star has never had quite the same impact on the big screen.

He said: “I would love to be able to declare that my collected film work on DVD would make an elegant shelf of high-class cinematic experiences to browse among an evening.

“I fear, however, that it may look more like the contents of a box pulled out from under a table at a car boot sale”.
