Dan Walker dazzled on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021 alongside his pro partner Nadiya Bychkova - and he's still watching the show three years on.

Taking to X to passionately defend his favourite duo, Dan exclaimed: "There are some great couples on #Strictly this year, but Chris & Dianne simply have to win. They are wonderful to watch."

Chris McCausland has left fans open-mouthed about his ability to master dance routines despite being blind. However, BBC fans have been lamenting his "frustratingly" low scores after last weekend's performance with Australian pro Dianne Buswell.

Fans swept in to defend them on X as one brutally argued: "The best dancer should win a dancing competition. That is not him."

A second replied to Dan's claim that they will be crowned this year's winners with the words: "No, it’s a dance competition. Although Chris is great, he is doing amazingly well, but how can his achievements be fairly weighted against the able bodied dancers?"

However, another praised his determination to master the moves at all costs, exclaiming: "It would be a good idea if each contestant did one dance with a blindfold on so they could see how difficult it is."

Another agreed: "He might not dance as well as others but how he manages to learn the routines and perform them is mind blowing. Dianne is one heck of a teacher."

"They are my winners! Chris is conquering what is impossible even to some of those who can see," chimed in a third.

Someone else wrote: "As a disabled person myself, I have so much admiration for Chris's drive and determination, never to give up, but not only that, but also Dianne's patience and humility to focus on Chris's strengths and not inability to see what beautiful routines he is doing on the dancefloor xx."

As others described them as "phenomenal", arguing that it was a "foregone conclusion" they'd be lifting the Glitterball Trophy this time around, another X user made a measured analysis of matters.

"It’s certainly the greatest creative effort the show has ever had & may never be equalled, but it’s perhaps fair that the most skilled couple wins," they suggested.

"That said, they deserve a place in the final & then the public - who regularly decide with their hearts - will make the call."

The Strictly action returns to the nation's TV screens this Saturday night on BBC One.
