GMB: Adil Ray 'careful' with pronouncing headline

Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway had to issue a word of caution on Friday's programme as she co-hosted with Adil Ray.

Amid the morning's discussions and news items, one headline in particular sparked a moment of alarm.

Adil, reading from The Suns paper, declared: "Farmers are outraged and have warned of massive destruction and possible food shortages after the chancellor's budget. With their headline 'A kick in the bullocks'."

Kate was quick to remind her colleague of the delicate nature of the term when Adil attempted to segue to the days guests for further debate as she commented: "You have to be careful how you say that!"

His replied: Yeah, I had it rehearsed in my head for a while."

Following a successful navigation of the linguistic minefield, they brought in former MPs Nadine Dorries and Caroline Louise Flint to dissect the recent budget proposals, reports the Mirror.

Introduction of a significant £22.6bn NHS boost over the coming two years was one of the topics Adil pointed out, noting the important decisions on allocation of these funds.

Yet, it wasn't long before the focus shifted to Nadine and an admission she had made publicly.

He remarked: "Wes Streeting has already spoken about they're going to spend money on weight loss drugs and jabs. You've been writing this week, Nadine, that you spent three months on Mounjaro. That's one of the jabs called a 'King-Kong' of weight loss drugs to try and bring down your weight."

The ITV host didnt mince words when expressing surprise at Nadine's medical revelations, with the former MP admitting her actions were taken on doctor's orders.

She confessed: "My first phone call was to tell me that I was pre-diabetic, the second phone call was to tell me that nothing had changed, I was actually more pre-diabetic and really needed to get 12 pounds off as quickly as I could."

Kate, visibly taken aback, interjected with sympathy, saying: "You didn't ever look especially overweight though Nadine."

The segment soon turned slightly comical when Nadine pointed out that an image of her flashed on screen was inaccurate.

Correcting the hosts with a tinge of humor, she commented: "That's not one, no. That's 12 years old that photograph!"

There was a stirring of awkward giggles in the studio as she clarified the photo was snapped during her second term in the Commons back in 2010, to which Kate sheepishly apologised: "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry about that, that's the picture for some reason we have."

Despite the on-air blunder, Nadine continued to discuss her weight loss journey, mentioning she managed to shed close to two stone, saw herself free from being pre-diabetic, albeit with a slight increase in cholesterol while on the treatment.

Good Morning Britain continmues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
